clintoncole
Sorry if my terms aren't right but let me link you to what I want to do: Starts at :045 (the layering with his voice) What does it take to create this effect (it's called harmonics right?) Is it EQ, what frequencies are being lifted and lowered and why. Please and thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ21I_haJ9s :036 when he says to me, it says (to me to me to me) in a robotic voice, how do I get that robotic voice sound? same video two different videos reason being, the first is better quality to hear the harmonics better although in that version for some reason they took out the robot part. You get that by recording two different vocal parts, with different, but harmonious melodies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ21I_haJ9s:036 when he says to me, it says (to me to me to me) in a robotic voice, how do I get that robotic voice sound? clintoncole
Are the two harmonics generally eq'd different? How? And how is that done with a vocoder? Simple step by step for me please sir? Beer Moth
Harmonies, not Harmonics. Requires knowledge of Harmony/music theory and/or good working ears. You might as well ask "How do I play guitar?" or whatever. Harmonics are overtones (partials) that all instruments produce, and which give them their sound. Not all partials are harmonics. All harmonics are partials.

Is it EQ, what frequencies are being lifted and lowered and why. Please and thanks As Shiv said you layer at least 2 vocals. You can Pan one vocal left, the other right. Add a delay to one of the vocals and pitch shift it a little. You can also add additional effects to this vocal as you like. The attached file is a very very quick example - you would have to play around with it further. Layering like this is common with vocals - most of Katy Perry's track have her voice layered. There are plug-ins out there VocAlign etc that help with this. Hope this helps as a starting point.... Vocal_Layering.zip
Rev. Juda Sleaze
Are the two harmonics generally eq'd different? How? They could be EQd differently, but they don't have to be. The trick to harmonies isn't in the EQing, but in knowing which notes harmonize well with the melody. This isn't something I could explain in a post, theres a bazillion books out there about harmony. Octaves, 5ths and 3rds almost always go well, you could start experimenting with that. And how is that done with a vocoder? Simple step by step for me please sir? Look up the EVOC instrument, and the EVOC effect in the manual/youtube tuts. You record a vocal part, then write midi notes to change the pitch of the vocal, while keeping the timbre. With the EVOC effect insert, you can use any synth to create the vocoder sound.

Rev. Juda Sleaze
Pirates don't cares for altar boys. They like to stick to the cabin boys! As the ol' saying goes: "On shore, it's wine, women and song. At sea, it's rum, bum and concertina."

Andyreww
Andreww just doesn't know the difference between a pirate and a priest... and I can sort of understand that... So I did some research to help with the gap in my knowledge and found that the relationship between Pirates and Roger the Cabin Boy / Priests and Roger the Choir Boy is a key difference....
