xiaoxiwan
I'm creating a mockup of one of my scores. Several passages involve solo strings doing a slow and steady glissando between 2 intervals as small as half a step and also microtones. I'm using VSL solo strings samples from Kontakt 4 and I've tried assigning the Tuning parameter in the sample to an automation. However, when I try detuning to create a smooth gliss effect, the intervals between pitch changes are too wide. Is there anything I can do to make extremely fine pitch alterations in the sample to create the gliss?
Jope
Just to sort this one out - does Pitch Bend not work?
xiaoxiwan
Yes, the pitch bend in the general automation does not register with the sample playback. It makes sense because the sample isn't a synth, but I was wondering if there is any workaround.
Jope
So you just put the sample on an Audio Track? Why don't you use a sampler instead? Well, if you don't want to use one for some reason, try a Pitch Shifter plugin.
xiaoxiwan
No, it's on an instrument track. It's on Kontakt 4, which is a sampler. I'm saying that the detuning isn't fine enough to produce a smooth glissando in the sampler.
Jope
But Kontakt must be able to perform Pitch Bend, probably it's a matter of Kontakt's settings. You can use Pitch Shift anyway.
