Problems with audio

Recommended Posts

I'm having some unexplained problems with audio in logic. The problems manifest in two ways:

1. Upon loading Logic, external gear shows the monitor levels in the mixer, then for some reason it stops showing but I can still hear the audio.

2. Sometimes when I move an audio region, I cannot hear it through my monitors even though i can see it peaking in the mixer

3. Point 2 sometimes also occurs with MIDI controlling an external synth - some regions play back ok and others don't play anything

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?

Can you expand on that? What external gear, how is it connected, and how are you monitoring Logic's output?

Hi there, thanks for getting back to me. My main setup is:

Logic Pro 9.1.3 running in 32 bit mode

iMac 27" i7 8GB

Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP

I'm using an Elektron MachineDrum and Monomachine hooked up to the audio interface, running two channels of mono from each bit of kit (Assigned to audio channels 1 to 4 in Logic).

The audio interface is connected via FireWire and handles the main outgoing signal as well. This controls both my monitors and my headphones. I can't control any volume from the computer (itunes etc) - everything is controlled from the knobs on the interface. There is a program that comes from the interface that it used for routing etc but I never really load it up as it's set up as I like it.

The main problem is that sometimes without reason the audio signal levels in the mixer for the incoming audio channels do not show any signal, yet I can hear the audio coming through. I couldn't really think of anything instinctive as to why this would be - do you have any ideas? The problem goes away when I exit and restart Logic.
