RockNRoll
Hello all, About punch on the fly recording: - What scenarios would we need to have punch on the fly toggled off, or can it just be left on 24/7? Thanks for your advice!!
ski
That's a darn good question! It's never off over here.
fuzzfilth
It's never off here too. When it was implemented, I'm sure they wanted to keep the old (off) way as a safety net in case bugs had crept in. Christian
fader8
Turning it off would eliminate the hard disk bandwidth that Logic uses since when punch on the fly is active, Logic is recording audio whenever you press play. It just doesn't get printed to a region unless you've hit record. With modern drives as good as they are, it's probably not an issue just to leave it on. POTF off would cause a hiccup and then run into a bandwidth issue if there was one. Christian
fader8
Yeah, but I could see if you were in a purely mixing workflow with a BIG project on a severely fragmented drive, you might get a few less hiccups with POTF turned off.
