ohdanny
Hello all, I am thinking of upgrading from my Macbook Pro to a Mac Pro Quad Core for use with Logic 8. I have a Tascam FW-1884 that I have been using with my current set up and it works no problem. Is anybody using the FW1884 on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.5?? David Nahmani
To answer that question you should look up the drivers for that unit on Tascam's website, see if there are any recent drivers available. If you can't find what you're looking for on their website I would recommend contacting Tascam and asking them.
nmaison
not sure about the mac pro, i do have the FW 1884 working on my macbook pro and logic8/9 also on a mac mini with logic 8/9 i dont see why you wouldn't be able to get the mac pro(a superioir computer to work while mine work... you do have to install the drivers from the tascam site tho http://tascam.com/product/fw-1884/downloads/
ohdanny
So the Mac pro and fw-1884 work, but must be started in 32-bit mode. There are instructions on apple's support site on how to set that up with a terminal command so that it starts up in 32-bit mode every time. I also have a 002R at home. I am looking for the best way to set up my studio so that either interface could be used, cuz sometimes I use pro tools. Currently landed on sending optical out from 002 to Tascam so when using PT I can use Tascam as standalone mixer. Thanks for the help!
