DaveBrock222
First of hello! My name is Dave and I got Logic Express 9 for christmas and I jumped right into it. I am still finding it a little hard to navigate but I am eventually learning the tricks. Whenever I try and record my acoustic guitar I get this grainy white noise in the background. I try and add a gate effect but that just stops the noise until I play something. Is there any way that I can get a clean sounding acoustic. I know this is still very vague but any help would be much appreciated. I am using Logic Express 9.1.3 Macbook Pro 13'' Samson CO1U Yamaha Acoustic
David Nahmani
Is the noise present in the room? A/C? Computer fan? Etc... Mics can be sensitive and reveal sounds that you'd automatically turn off in your head after you stay in the room for a while.
DaveBrock222
Well I am recording in my room and the only thing that is really making noise would be my computer. Although the Macbook Pro is mostly silent. I have heard that if you place a towel over the computer temporarily it will alleviate some of the noise but I was unaware if this was practical/effective. Are there any effects in the program that will get rid of the unwanted noise or should I invest in some sound proofing equipment?
David Nahmani
You should first determine where that sound comes from. Is it the outside noise, is it the computer noise, is it something else etc... or maybe it's the noise of the mic, or of the preamp... how close is the mic to the guitar and how loud are you playing?
