parrishw30
Hey guys, I'm new to Logic as of about a month ago. It's pretty easy to use and I'm loving it. Learning tips and tricks as I go. I have a 27 inch iMac running 10.6.6 with 8GB memory. My processor is the 3.2 GHz Intel core i3. I have Komplete 7 loaded onto my computer as well I have quite a lot of effects and plug-ins. Sometimes when I'm working with a track, I'll get a message saying my memory is getting low. I'm not using an unbelievable amount of tracks so I'm not sure why I'm getting this message. The only thing I can seem to link between the two times it has happened is Kontakt 4's Abbey Road Drums, but I don't think that should be the problem. If anyone has any idea as to why this is happening please let me know how to remedy it because I'd like to try and fix this problem. Thanks guys. triplets
If you're not already doing so, save your projects on an external FW800 drive. If you have a FW interface, you can daisy-chain them like this: iMac-FW800 drive- interface.
parrishw30
Sounds good. I have an Alesis io2 interface, but I don't think that's the interface you're talking about. And if I start doing that will I stop running into low memory problems?
widdershins
Are you running Logic in 64 bit mode? If not then you can only access 4Gb of that memory. See here for more info on that. As triplets mentioned, saving your project to a Firewire 800 external drive might help. If the project is trying to read large amounts of data (e.g. kontakt samples) and write large amounts (e.g. your project) to the same disk it can cause problems.
