Logicno8
I would just like to ask you guys about these apps that comes with Logic Pro Studio that I'm not sure I understand a lot about. First I understand that Mainstage 2 is used for live situations and I think it is a phenomenal extension of Logic for concert usage. So, I'm clear with that one. Compressor is for compressing video files and I do understand that one as well. Impulse Response Utility is for making IR for Space Designer. Must be awesome thing. Never used it but I hope I will try it in the future. Nothing to ask about that. But...Soundtrack Pro and Waveburner. Is there anything that give these applications advantage over Logic Pro ? I watched some tutorials and I'm not sure why would I want to use them instead of Logic. I can master my music in Logic and I can work with video in Logic perfectly. So, what are these used for specifically ? Why should I use them and not Logic at any time I'm wondering ? Thanks.
michael2
i'm past my days as a professional musician so I don't use it often, but I did a "record" with some people recently and i used waveburner to sequence tracks, do crossfades on them and get them at an even volume level. I have also used it when constructing songs out of bits that I did in separate Logic projects to get them to mesh together. it's a pretty cool app.

That's why I ask. Logic is like mixture of all of them. So I don't understand why would they be good for separately from Logic. I mean, I assume that whoever bought Logic wanted Logic as a main software and got everything else in a bundle not opposite
Eriksimon
Waveburner burns Redbook CD's. That's its point. So if you never to do that, you don't need it. In soundtrack I believe you can do more precise/surgical audio editing than in Logics' wave editor, but I never use it, I have Peak. But that's just because I've always used it eversince version 1.0. michael2
Yeah that's what I thought. That is the type of thing I use waveburner for. Try it out it's a pretty cool program.
ruari
In soundtrack I believe you can do more precise/surgical audio editing than in Logics' wave editor That's correct. You can take a drum loop for example, single out a snare hit halfway through the loop, apply some reverb just to that hit then render that into the loop as though it was always there. It integrates with Logic really well quickly transferring the file back & forth between the programs.

So basically it's like a very powerful Sample Editor And Waveburner is for compilation of songs that are going to be burned on master CD and sent to the publisher with all the data included.
