Wave Mekanix
I just always feel I've got a grasp on hyper editor and then I guess I just confuse myself. Right now my main issue is with moving some selected data forward or backward in time. Normally this is no problem for me, but in this scenario I am using the double speed transformation first, and then attempting to select portions of the event data for minor timing adjustments. However, after the transformation the data is jumping by much larger note divisions than I had anything at all set at. I generally always get kinda frustrated when I'm dealing with event data of different divisions/note lengths than that represented in my current hyperset. New events you then draw are of a different length now, and some events miss getting selected sometimes, once I had two events that I just absolutely could not figure out how to delete, despite deleting all the surrounding events. And I basically don't understand much of whats going on when the actual data doesn't match up perfectly with my current hyperset. Anyone have a simple way to explain it better than the manual? Is there a way to force event definitions and the already present data to see eye to eye? And why can't I move my events in small increments. (settings in the event definition are 1/96. and length: 0 1 . I'm not even sure what the length parameter here is for, and the manual seems to skip it.) Thank you in advance if anyone can help me! David Nahmani
You're not being very clear on what exactly you're attempting to do, how exactly you're going about it, and what results you're getting? If you give us a precise example then we can try to reproduce whatever it is you're trying to do, and see the problem for ourselves. Otherwise it's kinda hard to guess. Having said that, the Hyper Editor is a great editor for inserting notes, not so great for moving them or adjusting their lengths. You may want to switch to another editor for that. When inserting notes, the length of the note is determined by the Event Definition's "Length" parameter, and its visual width on the lanes depends on its "Pen Width" parameter. Wave Mekanix
Sorry, yah, I guess I didn't throw in enough specifics because my confusion is in the general Idea rather than in the details, but I think you gave me enough info anyway. I'll just end up using a different editor for that particular example. I got confused with the length parameter, and the whole thing a bit, because I've been using the hyper editor mainly for drum sounds and automation, as opposed to instruments where the result is more obvious. In that particular scenario I drew some automation for a plugin parameter in hyper editor (Reason rewired) and then performed the double speed transformation on the entire region for that parameter, at the default ratio. I was getting the expected result played back to me, but what I see in the editor is a bit strange to me, but I guess I would have to now reset the settings for the lane to see the data clearly, so like you said another editor might be better for this. The hyper bars, or whatever you call em, overlap. When selecting groups of them a few don't want to be selected. And, when I tried to drag a selection of them to the right or left they seem to be snapping to 1/8th or quarter notes and I couldn't figure out why. Thanks though! I'll get it eventually.
