luka
I have an old keyboard that I wanted to hook up to logic, so I was trying to figure it out... some people say that I only need a USB midi cable, is this correct? I've seen some on Amazon for like $5, so I hope that's all I need
David Nahmani
Hi luka, What brand and model is your keyboard? If it has a USB connector in the back chances are this should be possible, but don't buy just any USB cable. You'll need one that fits in your keyboard USB plug, which is different from the USB plug on your computer. If it doesn't have a USB connector you're out of luck, you'll need a USB MIDI interface (nowadays you can buy a cable with a USB connector on one hand, and MIDI cables on the other hand). That's more money than a simple USB cable.
luka
It's a Yamaha DGX-300, and it does have a midi function, the plug in the back is like a circular, 5 pronged shape, I assume that's normal?

That's a normal MIDI connector - so you'll need a MIDI interface. Something like this for example (at the lower price range): http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/E-Mu-Xmidi-1X1-Tab-USB-MIDI-Interface?sku=584010
