lowski
Hi. I convert a lot of rex files to the exs24. Once i do that i notice that the exs now reads Instrument #3009 or whatever... when I save and close my project a pop-up asks if i want to save the exs instrument. I always choose no. The problem is sometimes when i go back to a project i notice that the exs instrument now has new wav samples in it. I think from a different rex file. Is this happening because i don't save instrument?. And if i do save the instrument is it only saved to the song folder? What if im working on a new project and i want to use exs instrument loaded with a converted rex file, where would I find this?. I'm confused on how logic save instruments and where they are saved to. My second question is about saving and loading 3rd party plug-ins such as sylenth1. When i choose to save setting as. the where folder reads Sylenth1. I choose to save but when i search my mac for the sylenth1 folder nothing comes up? Where is it?. When i choose to load preset i can see it come up... Anyway thanks

I'm confused on how logic save instruments and where they are saved to. Logic does not save the instrument: YOU save it. When you save any file on any computer, you choose their name and locations. So you decide where to save your instrument. If you save it to {Your Home Folder}/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/ or Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/, then Logic automatically makes them available to you. When you choose to save and see the folder "sylenth1", click the menu (where it says "sylenth1") to see the path of that folder in your Mac's file/folder hierarchy. lowski
I'm still learning Logic so I like to save to desktop where I can see what I just did. What is the difference between 'save' and 'save as'?. I just tried to save a EVP88, the 'where folder' that comes up is called EVP88. I choose save. Now when I search my mac for the EVP88 instrument i just saved (named 'my piano') or the EVP88 folder to which i saved it. Nothing comes up in the search... I looked through MacHD/library/app support/logic/plug-in settings/EVP88 and I dont see them saved there. I do see the in the menu bar of the EVP88 though... As you can see i'm still not fully understanding. Thanks for being patient with me
buzwah
I'm still learning Logic so I like to save to desktop where I can see what I just did. What is the difference between 'save' and 'save as'?. "Save" just overwrites the Patch you're working on in the original place on your hard drive and Save As gives you the option to rename it as a new instrument and save it to wherever you like. lowski
Okay thanks. I was wondering because whether I choose save or save as, the same pop-up menu appears. "Save setting as:"
beej
Okay thanks. I was wondering because whether I choose save or save as, the same pop-up menu appears. "Save setting as:" Of course. If you haven't saved it yet, the computer neither has a location or a name to save the file to. Hitting save, without having firstly told the computer where and what you want to save it as, will prompt you for a name and a location. Once you have saved it once, the computer already knows the filename of the file you are working on, so save will just continue to save to the filename already given it, without needing to prompt for it again.
