Minimize Project Size

So I'm just staring audio post on a 90-minute film, but I've got to be really cautious about my system resources, since I'm doing the whole thing on my MacBook Pro. I've just gone through the process of picking out my buy takes from all the production audio - now I want to get everything else out of my project, to keep the project size down and so it opens faster. I thought that Consolidate Project was my go-to for this, but I must be mistaken, as my newly-consolidated project only contains the audio I want in it's Audio Files folder, but still references all the old audio in the old project folder, so I'm worse off now than I was before. Any quick ways to do this?

Also, any other tips on managing system resources in large projects would be much appreciated[/i]

You can open the Bin, choose Edit > Select Unused, and it will select all audio files that are not being used in the Arrange area. If you know for sure that you'll never need those audio files ever again, you can then choose Audio File > Delete File(s).

In the Arrange area you can also choose Track > Delete Unused to delete tracks that don't have any regions.

If you still need more CPU resources, you could freeze or bounce tracks. This however can put more strain on your HD, so it depends on your work flow and situation.
