dannydance
Hi everyone, I'm a young producer and I have my sights set on making the most well-produced, quality-sounding tracks possible within my genres (Deep, Soulful, Funky House); my dream is to hear my musical adventures come to not just to life and sound good, but also to literally "pop" from the speakers. I have some newbie deficiencies (particularly in my understanding of properly mixing down my music, and in the fundamentals of dance music production) that I'd like to begin addressing by studying Logic more thoroughly and sequentially. I've read through most of David's (awesome) L9 book and have watched a few tutorials here and there. What I'm finding is that there's really very little known about how producers like deadmau5, Kaskade, Mord Fustang, and others of their caliber have gotten to the point where their songs sound as GOOD, production-values-wise, as they do. By that, I mean crisp, sharp, clear, and "in your chest". I am not an Electro or Tech House producer, but I am floored by the production values inherent in the genre—values that extend beyond merely great Mastering work. Anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself and would like to engage myself in this community, as I'm sure there are equally passionate musicians here. I'd like to learn as much as I can from all of you, regardless of your fields. Iron sharpens iron! Danny Dance
David Nahmani
Welcome here Danny, I'm sure you'll find tons of exciting information. I also wanted to point out to you that we have a Logic workshop that is taught by Dance Music Producer Darren Burgos, that is EXACTLY up your alley. This is exactly the kind of stuff Darren talks about, and how he can spend hours ironing out a kick drum sound until it's just perfect for the track, etc... I think you'd be very interested in that workshop if you can attend: Electronic & Dance Music Production in Logic Pro Learn track building, Ultrabeat, ES1 & ES2, filtering, stutter edits, gating, sidechaining, compression, 3rd party plug-ins, mastering... Will look into that workshop
