Setting up a default output for new tracks

Hi. I'm working on a film. I have one track which is the film dub (dialogue, effects, etc), and then all the other tracks (software instruments) are with my music. Now I frequently want to hear the music along with the original dialogue, so I'm routing all my music tracks to a Music Bus (Aux 1), so I can easily control the level of music vs dialogue mix. However every time I create a new instrument/track the output defaults to Main Out. Is there anyway to setup the project so every time I add a new track it defaults to my Music Bus (Aux 1)?

Or maybe there's a more convenient way to work with film audio?

Thanks

In the New Tracks dialog, set the Output to your Music Bus (Aux 1).

Once set, it should remain set for future new track creation. If you Close the Project and reopen it, it will still be set. Once you quit and restart Logic, it reverts back to Stereo Out. (At least here it does...Logic 9.1.3)

It really helps to know what you're working with. Please add your Logic version and system info to your signature: Read Me Before Posting - Forum Guidelines (#5).

Of course! Updated, that's for pointing that out.

Thanks for the tip. Can you try something for me though? Cause when I tried that, if I added a new track using the "double-click" method, the outputs didn't remember the settings of the previous/selected channel...

Hi,

I want to do something similar with my set up. I want each new track I create (whether by double clicking or in the new track window) is by default sent to a bus rather than output 1-2 so that I don't have to scroll down to the bus each time I create a track. I know you said that it should automatically do that when you create a new track, but that doesn't seem to be working for me. I am running Mac OSX 10.8.2 and Logic 9.1.8.
