alexyeats
Hi all, Bit of a dilemma I'm hoping someone can help me with???? I am a drummer using a Roland TD20 to trigger Superior Drummer in my 2010 i7 MB Pro. Am currently using my old M-audio FW 410 but can only get the roundtrip latency down to around 9ms....(crap drivers!?!?!?) So my question is which interface would give me the lowest stable roundtrip latency. Audio i\o specs aren't that important to me just the speed! So I'm looking at......... 1 Motu Audio Express 2 Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP 3 Presonus Firestudio Mobile 4 RME Fireface 400.........a large price jump I know but open to advice as to whether it's worth it or not?! Thanks in advance for your thoughts! 2010 i7 MCP, Logic Pro 9.1.
triplets
Motu has the best latency in my experience. The Audio Express or even better, the Ultralite will do the job. I get 2.7 ms roundtrip latency with a 32 buffer at 44.1 with my Ultralite.
alexyeats
Many thanks for that! Just out of interest do you recommend the Ultralite because of the added features or because it'll be quicker? I assume that the Ultralite and the Audio Express would run off the same generic FireWire driver?????
triplets
I think they have the same driver. I just like the I/O features of the Ultralite. If at some point you would need a couple more inputs, you have them.

Eric Cardenas
I get 2.7 ms roundtrip latency with a 32 buffer at 44.1 with my Ultralite. Hi triplets! Could you please do a roundtrip latency measurement to ensure that MOTU is actually reporting the actual delay to Logic?
David Nahmani
I would avoid Focusrite. Both MOTU and Presonus make great products. RME is a step up from both MOTU and Presonus, they make excellent audio interfaces, with very robust, reliable drivers. If you can afford it go RME all the way.
