space
The ball on my mighty mouse has gone, the apple care has run out so can't get a replacement (for the 3rd time). I was looking at the magic mouse, the track pad and the mx performance by Logitec. After checking out various threads on this forums and others, I thought I'd start my own. Who here uses either the magic mouse/trackpad with Logic, if so, how do you find them to use with it? What are the good/bad points of either? If you have a 2007(ish) Mac Pro what is the bluetooth connection like with the magic mouse etc as I've been reading that many people have had to buy bluetooth dongles. Cheers
Rev. Juda Sleaze
Not used the trackpad, but magic mouse works really well with Logic for me.
Chimpotle
I have had both a magic mouse and the trackpad - i stuck with the magic mouse. Pluses for the magic mouse - fingertip swiping (whatever they call it) - works like an iphone - swipe left and right to scroll left and right, swipe up and down to scroll up and down. Minuses for magic mouse - battery drain, swipe scroll can be touchy as you get lazy with you mouse hand after workign for awhile. Track pad - very cool, but i just never really got good with it. Moving faders and knobs in plugins was very dificult for me. For others, they seem to love it. Battery drain is a minus there too.

ruari
I use the Magic Trackpad & I really like it, I've not used a mouse since last year.
Chimpotle
Yeah - rechargables are a must. One thing i realy liked about the trackpad was the desk real estate you get back. The track pad is smaller than the average mouse pad, and you can do everything with gestures leaving your hand pretty much stationary. Mice can be a pain if you have a lot of clutter on your desk. My two cents - you'll hit the ground running with the magic mouse, and you may or may not with the trackpad. Ive got two friends who love it and never miss a mouse just like ruari. I never gelled with the trackpad - gave it to my girlfriend.

Whoa, I didn't know induction chargers were commercially available. I'll stick with making sure I charge an extra set of batteries for now, that dooberry brings out the technophobe in me. gautsch
I was suffering from major battery drain until input on a pair of lithiums. They've been in for about 6 weeks and are still on 100% charged. Yay!

Yay! I had the same problem with a Magic Mouse until I got the Apple Charger/Batteries - now the mouse lasts a a lot longer.
space
Thanks for all the opinions, Got the Magic Mouse in the end, tested the Trackpad in the shop and between the two it had to be the Magic Mouse. Suppose now its a question of Magic Prefs or Better Touch Tool??

Pretty leading headline, given this paraphrase of the first sentence (aka the lead) The International Agency for Research on Cancer did not find evidence of a clear link. Nevertheless, the IARC has classified the radiation emitted by handsets as “possibly carcinogenic”.

Facepalm
The ball on my mighty mouse has gone, the apple care has run out so can't get a replacement (for the 3rd time). The trick with the mighty mouse is to flip it over and roll the ball around vigorously on a piece of paper to remove the accumulated crud. A squirt of cleaning fluid will help. This will only provide temporary relief, however, as the design of the mighty mouse is fundamentally flawed and will soon clog up again. Personally, I couldn't live without my Kensington Expert Mouse. http://i.imgur.com/snx84.jpg
rone2him
Related to "battery drain" yeah! But I have been taking the used batteries out of my electric toothbrush, and placing them in my "magic" and they have, surprisingly, been lasting quite a while before totally crapping out. And use the on/off switch
