tiny mystery audio files... [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

these pop up in some of my song folders (NOT in the Audio folder, just the root folder of a project):

st2011Falt...logic-f24m.aif

the song title, with "logic-f24m.aif" at the end. they're a bunch of them in different projects. they're all ZERO seconds long.

any idea what they are, why they are? and can i safely trash them??

They're fade files.

If you trash them they'll just be re-created the next time you run the project. But yes, it's safe to trash them. Or, just leave them alone and don't worry about them (much easier!)

Hi,

Is there any way to not have these little "logic-f24" fade files not end up in the root of your Project Folder? Shouldn't they automatically be stored in Fade Files?

yeah, i'd love that as well. i hate all these little random files floating free in my song folders! especially since Logic is so anal about Audio Files, Bounces, etc...

Bounce in place the regions with fades and delete the original regions.

Thanks! I need to keep the regions and fades separate for flexibility in editing later. Is there a way to set the Fade file path to 'Fade Files' where these things belong?

Actually, the same question goes for the .bak folders that keep popping every time I 'Save As' a project with a new date in its name. These backups should go to 'Project File Backups' instead of the root of the project folder. Is there a preference for this somewhere?

My client likes clean project folders, understandably.

Thanks!

When you Save, make sure Include Assets is checked.

Hi, thanks for your replies.

I do use the "Include Assets" feature when first creating a new project for a new cue - but I'm unable to keep that box checked for subsequent saves. Unfortunately, I can't use the "Include Assets" checkbox because then Logic copies both 250mb dialog (one with temp, one without) tracks back into my Audio Files folder. I'll have over 70 different project folders by the time this season is over so that would be 70 * 500mb of redundant audio data I'd rather not have on my hard drive.

Is there a way to "Include Assets" but not have Logic copy any audio files that aren't in the project's Audio Files folder?
