Dextrous
Hi there, iv have just purchased the orpheus which i wanted because i wanted 8 output channels but i thought u could just plugin the firewire and off u go 8 channels of audio...but no, u need a summing mixer which i havnt got so i got my old o2r out and plugged in the adat optical connections still no audio so then i plugged it in analog and had the digital returning to the orpheus then i got audio coming through 1- 8 channels, but then thought how do i bounce my track down to disk?? as there is no bounce button on the master fader in logic pro 9. can any body help me with this problem im pulling my hair out!! triplets
There is a bounce button in Logic on the Main Stereo Output 1-2, not the Master Output. The latter you don't touch.
David Nahmani
i wanted 8 output channels but i thought u could just plugin the firewire and off u go 8 channels of audio...but no, u need a summing mixer No, you do not need a summing mixer. The Orpheus has 8 analog line outputs, and you can access all of them directly from Logic without the help of any additional hardware or software. So as you said originally, just connect the firewire cable to your computer on one end, to the Orpheus on the other, and off you go. You should now be able to select the Orpheus in Logic's audio preferences, and once you've done that, you can access all the Orpheus' outputs from the I/O section of your channel strips. Maybe detail a little further what it is you're trying to do? Why are you trying to have 8 outputs?
Dextrous
Thanks Guys, But i think i didnt explain myself very well. To begin i need 4 stereo outs for a bigger more separated Mix. The orpheus and Logic are all firewired up together and working fine but i can only hear the stero out 1-2 the level's of 3-8 are coming up on the mixing desk in logic but no sound hence why i need a summing mixer to return back to the orpheus then back into Logic so i can hear the whole mix together then bounce it down i just wanted to know if u could do this without the aid of a summing mixer as using just firewire cable u cannot achieve this. triplets
Don't you have to enable additional outputs on the Prism software? Then in Logic you can select another output pair to do your routing. Question for you: Why do you want another pair of outputs? Are you connecting those to another piece of external hardware and then come back into Logic? That's the only reason I can think of wanting 4 stereo outputs.
David Nahmani
To begin i need 4 stereo outs for a bigger more separated Mix. OK good idea: let's start at the beginning. Why in the world would you think that having 4 stereo outs would give you a bigger more separated mix???
ski
It would also help to explain where you're monitoring outputs 1/2 (stereo out) from Logic. You mentioned 3 - 8 (returning via the Orpheus) but not 1/2.
