puroprana
They say there are no stupid questions, but this is probably a stupid question. I have this problem sporadically. I'll have a MIDI track already recorded with a software instrument. I want to add pitchbend. I go to the piano roll and open up the pitchbend view. I input pitchbend points. Sometimes I have no problem using my trackpad or mouse to drag the pitchbend end back to zero. Other times, 0 simply will not display. I can only choose +1 or -1. How do I get pitchbend to resolve to zero? I know I must be missing something something really basic. Thanks in advance!
ski
Zooming in might solve the problem. But if all else fails, enter a value of +1 or -1 (whichever you can wrangle). For example if you enter +1 you'll see this: ch num val 1 1 65 Then change the "num" value to 0, and the "val" value to 64.
David Nahmani
Zooming in might solve the problem. I suppose that's probably what ski meant - but what you want to do is resize the Hyper Draw area to make it taller. To do that, place your mouse pointer on the line separating the Piano Roll's grid and the Hyper Draw area and drag up. You should have no problem clicking on the black line to get a "0" dot. However it's not always practical to work with a huge Hyper Draw area, so what I do is click-hold, then drag the node to the desired value. That way if I see "= 1" in the help tag, I just drag down a bit until it says "= 0", then I release the mouse.
David Nahmani
. For example if you enter +1 you'll see this: ch num val 1 1 65 More like... ch num val 1 7 65 Don't ask me why. (it's been like this for years)
ski
Funny, I tried that out before posting and got the values I wrote in my post.
David Nahmani
OK actually now I'm getting Num=0, which makes more sense than 7 or 1. I swear I was getting 7 a minute ago, got to figure this out.
David Nahmani
Or maybe I just have ghosts here... this is interesting:
puroprana
Thanks for the replies. Very helpful! David, I get the same weirdness. That's why I gave up trying to do it that way. Hmmmm... Bug perhaps?
puroprana
I do the click-hold thing, too. I've just gone back in to verify. On a small project, I was able to click-hold and get a zero with no problem, without increasing the size of the pitchbend area. On a medium-sized project, I was not able to get the zero with click-hold until I increased the pitchbend area size. The former had no previous pitchbend data. The latter did, but not in that region. I'm baffled as to why it doesn't work the same on both, but I'll just make more space when I have to.
