Bouncing & Uploading Issues

Recommended Posts

I am trying to upload an exported Logic project to some websites (Facebook, YouTube, etc) and having some issues. I export everything just fine; the audio and video are perfectly synced up just as they are in Logic and the bounce file on my hard drive reflects this as well.

When I upload to Facebook, about 3 seconds of video is added to the beginning of the video (3 seconds that are not in my project file). I even went back into my project file and those 3 seconds are nowhere to be found.

When I upload to YouTube the video starts where it should but audio is delayed by about a second or 2, which throws everything off. Also some parts of the video look like they get "corrupted".

I have tried everything I possibly can think of to try and fix this but I am not getting anywhere. If anyone knows why this is happening or how I can fix it I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S. I am uploading to Vimeo right now to see how that works out.

Just to make sure about the terminology.

  • 1) Logic uses the term "bounce" to create a new audio file from your project.
    2) Logic uses the term "export audio to video" to "bounce the audio from your project and embed it to the current quicktime file (with or without the original quicktime audio track)

I assume that you talk about Export Audio to Video

If done successfully, you have a new quicktime file and as you write in your post it plays correctly (I assume in quicktime or iTunes). In that case it would be strange that you get an audio offset or additional video footage. However if you get weird results in two different places then that would point back to your video.

I would export the video again from QuickTime player (preferably QT7 and not the castrated QT X) again before uploading to see if that "straightens" things out.

I did mean "export audio to video" (my bad for not clarifying).

I asked my teacher about it (he helped write the 2nd logic training book) and his theory was that if the exported file works fine on my hard drive but gets screwed up after uploading then those websites might be doing something to it when they encode it? Just a theory.

I will try exporting as QT7 again and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.

Oh I know Josh very well. :D When you said "the 2nd Logic book" I didn't realize you were talking about MY second book! I thought you were talking about David Dvorin's book.

Josh didn't "help writing" my book, but he helped a LOT doing all the exercise testing. He also worked for Logic Pro Help in a couple occasion. He's an excellent trainer and music producer.
