Markoman
I'd like to start using Ivory (and some other EXS samples) live with Mainstage. On my studio set up, all samples (and audio files) live on an external Firewire drive. I'd like to avoid bringing the Firewire Drive to gigs... just one more thing to set up... and have my Ivory samples (and others) live on the internal Drive in my MacBook Pro (2.8.GHz, 4Gig of RAM, tons of room on internal hard drive. Anyone have experience or any thoughts on latency, drop outs, etc. if I go this route? Thanks, Markoman
thinkofone
Hi, Well, only one way to know for sure; try it. I wouldn't trust anyone elses opinion anyway if I could try it myself. You would need to field test your rig at home regardless. Personally I use the Ivory all the time in my live rig. it's surprisingly more efficient than Kontakt 4 and many other newer plugs. For a while I've been using an SSD, but before that I was using a 5400rpm HD and it still worked well. I wouldn't fool with the release samples (they are off by default I think) since they can cause dropouts, but you could try anyways if you have an overall light rig/set. Good luck.
