Jordi Torres
All you need is an HD with at least 2 firewire ports. The OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro's are good drives. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB J.

Jordi Torres
The only HD's with multiple ports you can find easily (at least in Spain, and last time I checked) are the Lacie Quadra drives. Only problem with them is that they're not silent. J.
reddog
I've got a couple of Western Digita HDs and a Glyph Portagig, all with multiple Firewire ports, that I daisychain. The Western Digital HDs, I would imagine, are fairly common should be easy to find. Glyph HDs, being more specialised for audio and video work, are probably a little harder to find. I bought mine off the internet. They are pricey, but Glyph produce one of the few portable HDs with Firewire (and eSata) ports.

Both drives I mentioned also have an eSATA port. it's pretty common on multi-interface HD's. J.

I'm also trying to make the jump into external HD recording, and I've noticed that my internal HD can get up to 50 degrees celcius during a three to four hour session. OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro 500GB or OWC On-The-Go Pro 320GB I plan on recording my projects to the external and after mix down sending all the final files back to me internal HD and reformatting the external, so 320GB vs. 500GB is not a big deal to me. I also plan on running a daisy-chain that goes: iMac -> FW 800 OWC drive -> Presonus Firestudio Project (FW 400) OWC's Elite-AL Pro 500GB option offers two FW 800 ports, a FW 400 port, USB 2.0 and e-SATA (which I will never use), where as the On-The-Go Pro only offers two FW 800 ports and USB 2.0. So here's my biggest question: If I daisy-chain with that configuration using the On-The-Go Pro, will I run into bus speed issues? Does the hub on the back of the Elite-AL Pro essentially work like a FW hub, therefore eliminating all speed issues? If it doesn't, I can't see myself spending another $20 for an e-SATA which is useless to me. Thanks
