Bus output getting small signal and does not read automation

I'm running logic pro 9.0.2 on a macbook pro with 4gb ram.

I'm encountering a problem in all my projects within logic; basically the bus system has completely failed.

For instance, if I have separate audio tracks containing kick and snare samples, and another with hats, all 3 with output set to aux 2 (drum output), the sound from each track plays both from the track the samples are on, and the bus channel which they are supposed to be outputting to, effectively doubling up each sound.

However, the bus output gets a relatively low signal; if there is automation on the drum output bus (aux 2), say a rising high cut on the channel eq, the highs play through from the original tracks even when they are cut on the output bus. Seemingly only half the sound is being sent to the right place.

To make the problem even more strange, when all tracks (including aux 2 - drum out) are soloed, the automation data is read perfectly and the sounds are not doubled.

I would really appreciate any ideas concerning my problem.

Sounds to me like you've used a SEND to bus 2, rather than the output of your 3 tracks set to bus 2.

If I'm wrong, a screenshot or, even better, attaching your project to this thread would help.

Thanks for the feedback. All tracks have the bus channel as their output. I will attach a screenshot showing the tracks with the automation, you will the that the highs and lows are cut on the drum output, yet i can still hear 100hz from the kick and the high from the snare

You are talking of sound doubling etc. In the screenshot everything seems to be OK.

But I suspect that the "Bus" (not the AUX) output select is set to "Stereo Out" instead of "No Output".

Open the Environment Window go the the "New" menu and create a "Channel Strip ->Bus". Select the newly created Bus object and assign it to Bus 2 in the Inspector.

Have a look at the Bus 2 channel strip "Output Select" box if it is set to any output which can cause the "duplication" problem. Such scenarios can be caused from using some old template from the older Logic versions for example etc.

Adex4,

I just had a quick look at your project and found out the "duplication" object.

Your Aux 1 is used as a Mix Drum channel fed from bus 10 right?

I found out another Aux 8 in the Environment mixer which is fed from Bus 10 as well. This seems to be the duplication audio path issue.
