Lion and Logic Express 8 [SOLVED]

Ok, so I created an alias and got logic 8 running.

Here's my problem...

Logic will run fine. However, when I try to access older logic files of songs it will not let me open them. When I try to open them from finder it of course tells me that it cannot be open because logic 8 isn't supported by lion. When I try opening the files in logic, they are grey and cannot be clicked on. Help is appreciated, thanks guys!

Sorry, let me clarify.

By older I mean files I have created recently. For instance, I recorded a couple tracks yesterday under a file named 'song 1' and then I started a whole new project today called 'song 2'. Now when I try to access 'song 1' the problem above occurs.

I tried both the Alias solution and the Automator solution to get Logic Express 8 to work with Lion however, when I use the Alias solution, Logic opens up all of my recent files! That doesn't seem to happen when I use the Automator method.

Also, is there a way to automatically hide all of the terminal windows that open? I get at least 7 of them that say bash.

Hello,

It seems to me that all problems (accept from Mauro Delgrecoare) are about starting up and running logic express/studio when it's already installed. I have the next problem:

I just bought the Macbook Pro 2,8ghz and I wanted to install logic studio 8. I bought logic some time ago for my mac pro (wich works perfect). When I tried to install logic studio 8, by double clicking Logicstudio.mpkg (after inserting the disc), I get the message that PowerPC-program's are no longer supported.

My question is: How do I install logic pro 8?

Please anyone?

If your new Mac has Lion on it.. then Logic 8 is NOT supported on Lion. You need to upgrade to Logic 9 to run on Lion.

Also, in case you think you can go back to Snow leopard... You cannot (easily) install Snow Leopard on your new Mac because your new Mac has hardware not supported under Snow Leopard.

So again, your only realistic choice is to upgrade to Logic 9

I've tried all the fixes here, and I've almost managed to get it to work. GeorgeClooney's method seems to get the furthest, but Logic keeps unexpectedly quitting as soon as it opens. Here's a log of the terminal window too:

"ECMemReserve: starting in Logic mode

ECMemReserve: allocating in Logic mode

2011-11-01 11:32:19.521 Logic Pro[559:2903] Uncaught system exception: signal 10

Bus error: 10

logout

[Process completed]"

Has anybody got any idea why this would happen?

I have the same problem. Lion, Logic Pro 9, macbook Intel core 2 duo.

the other programs (waveburner etc) seems to work fine.

Why not just open Logic 9? The workarounds listed here are for Logic 8, which isn't officially supported by Apple. Hence the need for a workaround.

As it is, I seem to remember reading that an update since the OP was O P'd allowed Logic 8 to open in Lion now, so I'm not sure that any issues you're experiencing would really be the same problem.

Hi all,

I am trying to get Logic Pro 8.0.2 to work on my MBP 10.7.5. For the installtion I used Pacifist, as suggested in another forum. I took only about 60 hours (!!!) to finish installing, while having to switch manually between all 7 installation CD's. I should mention that the version was 8.0.2 to begin with, and not 8.0.

Well now that the fun part was over, Logic Pro will not run! I have tried every suggestion in this thread, and still as soon as it launches, it quits 'unexpectedly'.

Can anyone please help?

Cheers, Tinaj.
