joshuac
Hello. I have read online that the input level should be set with your digital audio interface, adjusting the levels to where the level in Logic peaks out about -4db. However, this input level appears to be affected by the position of the fader. So, isn't the fader also affecting how much signal goes into the recording. Where should I set the fader, then? triplets
The fader level in Logic is only for monitoring, doesn't affect input, if that's your inquiry.
joshuac
So, to confirm, it won't matter where the faders are set for recording? We monitor our performance with a separate headphone mixer, anyway.
joshuac
Sorry, one more question. I understand that the fader doesn't affect input but, on the other hand, it affects the level meter for setting levels. If I have the fader up, the signal clips and vice versa. So how do I set levels in Logic Pro?
triplets
Have the fader on 0dB in Logic to set the input level, or you can set the fader level to pre-fader metering either in Logic Preferences or Settings, I don't remember. I would stick with the first option though.
