8BitJay
Okay, so I am planning on upgrading in the near future. The answer may seem obvious here, but I don't know all that much about Logic. (Using Logic Express 9). I am particularly interested in two different refurb iMacs. Both are 21.5-inch. both have 4GB memory and 500GB HDDS. One is a 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 at $929. the other is a 2.5GHz quad-core Intel i5 at $1019. That quad-core machine is probably the most i'd like to spend on a computer. Does anyone know if there is an advantage to the quad-core machine? I guess my real question here is does Logic make good use of those extra cores? How about looking into the future. I will probably be using this computer for the next 3-4 years. Just thought I would put this out there to hear what others think.
triplets
More cores is always better in Logic, go for it.
8BitJay
Thanks. I was leaning towards that one. I just wanted to make sure that it would make good use of those cores. I did read somewhere that RAM is a big factor in having a kick-butt Logic setup tho. I guess 4GB are plenty for anything i have to do.
Red Robin
Regarding RAM, if you want to run Logic or other Apps in 64-bit you'll need more than 4 GB. The recommended is 8 GB for the most efficient running of Logic and processing.
