saved plugin/channel strip settings lost

Hi, I've been working on a session and as usual have been saving different instances of the plugins, channel strips and instruments as I tweak them. Usually they are then accessible in the drop down menu at the top of a plugin or channel strip should I change anything so I can always audition and return to earlier versions with ease. However, Logic suddenly seems to have started saving these saved pst files into my home folder on my mac meaning that they are not accessible from the plugins/ch strips or insrtuments within the session. Does anyone know why it's started doing this, how I change it back and where I should move these pst files to, in order that they reappear within the session?
