bobsbarricades
I know I used to have this working but everything is super fuzzy now. I have: SaffireLE Roland XP-10 Korg padKontrol I thought it'd be easy enough to take the MIDI OUT of the XP-10 keyboard to the MIDI IN on the Saffire and the MIDI OUT on the padKontrol into the MIDI THRU of the XP-10. This isn't working. I've also tried the MIDI IN of the XP-10. For some reason the MIDI info won't go from the padKontrol through the XP-10. Reasons? The THRU and the IN on the XP-10 are bad? I've checked both cables and they both work. as well as MIDI IN/OUT on both SaffireLE and padKontrol (and OUT obviously works for XP-10). This setup also works: MIDI OUT from XP-10 into the MDI IN on the padKontrol. Then connect the padKontrol via USB. But I really hate how the USB cable gets in the way. So is there some sort of settings in OSX I'm fudging up? Thanks guys!

What comes IN at XP10's MIDI in, comes out at XP10's MIDI Thru.
bobsbarricades
that's just crazy talk sir! really? How could I have that so wrong. Well I'm confused now because I thought the MIDI OUT would sum the two MIDI channels (1 from the XP10 and the other from the padKontrol). This means I'd have to have 2 MIDI cables leaving the XP10, but I only have 1 MIDI IN on the Saffire.
bobsbarricades
so is there any way to get this working if I ONLY have 2 midi cables and 1 midi in on my Saffire? besides using my PadKontrol's USB?

JLCooper used to make a little half-rack MIDI splitter/merger, and there were others. bobsbarricades
thanks for that! I think I might've freed up a USB slot though so using my padKontrol's USB function might work fine now.
