bchamorro
I am in need of a new MacBook Pro, my 2008 MacBook Pro is pretty much dead. I have been trying to find some old stock quad core i7 models with Snow Leopard installed but I've had no luck, I'll have to get one with Lion. Would you go ahead and install Logic 9 on a new mac with Lion?
fisherking
search this site, google a bit. a lot of us are running lion and logic, and all is well (mostly); some driver issues, but you can check that out at the site for your audio interface. for me, am happy. comfortable with lion, and no serious issues (of course, waiting for the usual updates with enhancements and bug fixes). check out your plugin compatibility, and your audio interface; logic itself and lion seem pretty happy together on their own... n6smith
Yes. The trick is to make sure whatever Audio interface you are using, now has Lion compatible drivers. A great deal of plugins have now been updated to Lion too, so this helps greatly but once again, check first to ensure what you actually use will work ok. Logic itself, works pretty okay with Lion. A couple of minor issues outstanding but no showstoppers for me at least.
bchamorro
Ok, great. My interface is compatible, I just wanted to make sure that Logic itself wasn't causing any issues.
Barrsian
Why do you have to get a new machine? Second hand will enable to use snow if you are that worried about compatability and you will save $$.
n6smith
Why do you have to get a new machine? Another 3 years of Applecare and no worries? I've bought 2nd hand in the past and sometimes it has paid off and other times, I've paid the price of buying used equipment.. but if it is your only computer and it is an important part of your life then the security of having a full 3 years of maintenance coverage so you have no worries if something major goes wrong, like the Logic Board or screen.. is worth the extra outlay.
