jackhipgrave
Hi! First time poster here. Hopefully this will be a quick one. I'm reasonably experienced in Logic now, but this is continuing to throw me. I have a Korg MicroKorg hooked up to logic via a Roland Audio Interface. I can hear the sound of my Synth in Logic, and the bars are moving, meaning the sound is definitely getting through. But when I come to record, nothing happens. I can hear myself playing the notes, but they do not register on Logic as they might do normally using a software instrument & Midi controller would... At the moment I am completely stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.
involver
How have you connected the synth? Do you want to record MIDI or audio?
p.a
you also need to run midi out of your soundcard to midi in on your synth
lookatthisguy
you also need to run midi out of your soundcard to midi in on your synth Not necessarily… depends on what Jack wants to do with that synth.

Sounds like that's one of the things he needs to do: I can hear myself playing the notes, but they do not register on Logic as they might do normally using a software instrument & Midi controller would... lookatthisguy
I did read that, but I didn't think there was enough there to determine if there was a desire to have MIDI hooked up as well, or if it's another case of misunderstanding; not knowing that audio ≠ MIDI. I guess I should probably just be quiet and let Jack respond instead of over-commenting. I just missed you all so much…

involver
Also, some synths can do MIDI (and possibly audio) over a USB connection...

jackhipgrave
Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. I'm not recording in MIDI. What I've done so far is use a 1/4" jack to connect my Synth to my Audio Interface. I have armed the channel for recording by making sure the "R" is highlighted red. Not sure what you mean by the "I" though, Agonist? I'm assuming that when I've configured this properly it will record into an audio file, then appear on the interface as a sample would? The only connection between my Mac and the interface is a standard USB. Is this where I'm going wrong? Many thanks.
Agonist
"i" : input monitoring... so you've armed the channel, you hit record...and nothing? i don't know what to suggest. audio settings/preferences?

Thanks for everyone's input. Huge help! I like this forum. Cheers!
