Wilbert
Since I updated to Lion I'm noticing that my playhead isn't exactly in since with playback anymore. It's about half a beat ahead (at 130 bpm), although Logic says there's only 9.1ms latency. I have updated my Duet drivers, and I'm experiencing this both on the Duet and on the built-in audio. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Wilbert
David Nahmani
Do you have that problem in a new empty project where you drag one single drum loop? If no then the behavior is most likely due to latency-inducing plug-ins in your session.
Wilbert
You're right, I don't have this problem in small projects. But I'm almost certain that before I upgraded to Lion I didn't see this with the project I'm currently working on either. Is it possible that Lion is dealing with system resources less efficiently than snow leopard did?

Is it possible that Lion is dealing with system resources less efficiently than snow leopard did? I think Logic's behavior changed, in a recent version, but I'm not sure which. I know that it used to not compensate its graphics for latency, so you'd see the playhead start where it was the instant you pressed play, only the audio was delayed compared to the graphics. Now the playhead jumps ahead so Logic can fill its buffers, and when you see it reach its original location the audio starts playing in sync - which makes much more sense! I'm not sure that I understand what you mean. Do you mean that the playhead jumps to the left when you hit play? I would call that back, not ahead. I'm not trying to argue semantics, I'm just checking whether I get what you mean. And if you mean what I think you mean, then I still don't get why I see the playhead move ahead of the beat. Shouldn't the behavior you describe resolve that issue?
