alexcocow
Hi all ! I'm wokring on a project right now, in a genre that i'm not the most familiar with : RNB/House, stuff like David Guetta, etc... What kind of drums virtual instruments do you usually use for this kind of music? Is ultrabeat good enough? If so, how do you process it, to make it sound really big, like it's usually the case in this kind of music? I'd actually have the same question about synth sounds. If I was aiming for something like the Black Eyed Peas, or even Lady Gaga, what should I use? I always get tremendous help from this forum, but on the technical category, this is my first time in this section! Thanks a lot ! Alex.
rainstick
pretty broad spectrum there... you might want to post any link's with which sound's your referring to exactly, ? ultrabeats ace... maybe you'll have to change the kit's about a bit but it's a cool plug in. fisherking
ultrabeat is pretty capable, explore using separate outs, compress the hell out of things, roll off some midrange... rob pap en's punch is a good drum module (my fave currently). for synths, check out sylenth1, a great buzzy synth with LOTS of dance-oriented presets, cool arpeggiations, huge chords, etc... xpander
The synths and effects that come with Logic are more than capable of providing you with the tools to produce Hip Hop and R&B. But if you need more accessible sounds with minimal effort, maybe due to time constraints, then I would recommend exploring some of the options that sample libraries or downloadable synth presets can offer. Here is a site that would cover all of the bases including Hip Hop and all other genres of music: www.soundstosample.com/genre/Hip_Hop_/11 or you could take a look at this extensive sound/loop library from Sonic Reality: /www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RAWDiamondHH/ Good luck - xpander
widdershins
I have found the Zenhiser drum samples to be good for this style. You can easily load them up into Ultrabeat by choosing the "Drag and Drop" preset kit, then dropping the samples into the sample window for each voice. Btw, a slight plug, but I have produced a 2.5 hour series of tutorials on Ultrabeat. They're not free, but I believe they're reasonably priced, and they go through every feature as well as teaching drum synthesis in Ultrabeat.
