aqueousi
I have been trying to replicate this effect with little success. I'm sure there are better examples, its pretty common, but this is the first that came to mind. @ 3:54 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOgDdI7HmeY The pitch effectively drops, but i'm wondering if maybe this is because the tempo slows? I've noticed when messing around with samples in batter when i drop the pitch the sample becomes longer, and when i raise the pitch the sample shortens. Either way I'm assuming automation is somehow involved, but exactly what do i automate? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
David Nahmani
Speed fade! Use the fade tool to draw a fade out at the end of your audio region, then control-click it and choose "Slow down". Adjust the curve and length to taste with your fade tool.
aqueousi
dude, thank you SO much. spot on exactly what i was looking for. i can't believe how simple it was, it's going to be really tough to not overuse this effect haha. XD although unless i am totally missing something i did have to make one adjustment to your instructions, after creating the fade i right (control) clicked it and chose fade out. after this in the column on the top left on the screen (i'm not sure exactly what this information is called, it's in the inspector though) there was a menu option for fade which i had to change to slow fade. i didn't see it directly accessible from just right (control) clicking the fade. i thought i would mention that for anyone else looking to get this effect. again, thanks for the light-speed response. i've been following this forum since i started using logic and it is amazing how nice and helpful everyone is here, particularly you. David Nahmani
Glad to hear you found it! But it's funny, I have the option in the shortcut menu here:
aqueousi
Odd, that isn't there for me. I haven't updated to the latest version, maybe that could be why? Either way, if you don't mind me borrowing from your vast pool of Logic knowledge again I have another question. When using fades, is there any parameter you can adjust so as to not have the fade be all or nothing? For example, if I want a region to fade out from 100% volume to 25%. Can this be accomplished using the fade tool or would using automation be the only way?
