elwood
Hi all, I just got this Scarlett 8i6 to use with Logic and am having a weird issue, I plug my guitar into Input1, turn the input gain up to 7, and in the mixcontrol panel the levels look perfect. When I look at Logic however the input levels barely register. I can of course increase the input level in Logic but first that's not enough, and second I shouldn't have to. I am going to try sending tone into it when I get home tonight. I feel like I am missing something very basic. Thanks...eli
elwood
ok so I recorded tone and played it back at 0db. In the MixControl I set the input to be 0 but in Logic, it shows as -10db in the mixer on the channel strip. Thanks eli
Simon Morrison
Hi Eli, Are you using the latest Scarlett 8i6 firmware/driver (Scarlett MixControl 1.1)? Do you have the MixControl input [1/2] set to "Inst" (instrument level)?
elwood
I am using the most current software, and also when I play my guitar I AM using the INST setting. When playing tone back from my recorder I am using LINE. What's weird is that the level appears to be fine in the MixControl tool, just that logic sees it as -10 db. Thanks...eli
Simon Morrison
To rule out a meter calibration issue: 1. Route your input signal directly to the Scarlett 8i6 main outputs via MixControl (direct monitoring) 2. Play something and listen to the level 3. Turn off direct monitoring 4. Route Logic's main outputs to the Scarlett 8i6 main outputs 5. In Logic turn on software monitoring (set all faders to 0.0) 6. Play something and listen to the level 7. a. If the levels sound the same, then the meters in MixControl and Logic are simply calibrated differently: - Use Logic's meters as your reference level b. If the levels sound different, then the Focusrite driver is not communicating correctly with Logic: - Contact Focusrite
