Changing Patches quickly - dealing with slow loading plugins

Hello,

I'm thinking of moving my setup from a Muse Receptor to a laptop running Main Stage. I have a big question. The Receptor lets you load all your plugins at once so when you change patches it doesn't take forever ( So i can flip from Piano to Wurly and then back Wurly and its almost instant ). How do you guys do this in Main Stage? I would really appreciate your response. I use Ivory and Kontakt 4 mostly.

Thanks,

md

You can do it the same way you would if using hardware synths. From your controller keyboard, program a preset that has a keyboard zone that transmits on MIDI channel 1, for example. That's your piano. Create another preset with a keyboard zone that transmits on channel 2, that's your wurly. Have both instruments loaded in your Mainstage patch with different receive channels and just switch presets on your keyboard to access them individually.

Gotcha. Unfortunately i use a Nord Electro as a midi controller and it doesn't have the ability to assign different Midi Channels to different presets. Currently what i do is send Program Changes to flip to a new sound. I was hoping there was a way to have that plugin pre-loaded on MainStage.

MainStage loads everything when you open up the "Concert". There is no load time between patches.

CCT

and you can also program mainstage to respond to program change msg

You can have piano on 001 and rhodes on 002, on your controller change programs the same way you do with Receptor.

In every gig i play the same songs in sequence so i just programmed a key to move up and another to move down.

You can re-arrange your list afterwords.
