Copy automation from one parameter to another [SOLVED]

I've read 6 or 7 different threads on this forum and others asking similar questions but have not found an answer to this one:

 

How do you copy automation data from one automation lane to a different one?

 

For example, say I want to copy the automation for a gain plugin to the automation for a different gain plugin on the same track?

 

When I hit paste, the way I am currently doing it, it just pastes the data to the same automation lane that I copied it from... Bummer.

 

All help very appreciated!!

Glad you solved your problem. However I'm sorry you did not find your answer with a search on our forum? :? I did a quick search and found the following:
