remix6
I've started to use EXS24 for the first time to sample individual audio files, but i've noticed it keeps processing in some form (sounds like the enveloping has been changed even though I have disabled all that), is there a recommended way to set it up so there is absolutely zero processing on my audio file (ie something I have done wrong as per the screenshot).... thanks! David Nahmani
The volume envelope (Env2) as you have it dialed should not generate any sound at all, or barely any sound. You need to set "Sustain" to "full" (all the way up).
remix6
Hey David, I initially had sustain up as set by default (and have since put it all the way back up) but it's still sounding awful.... I bounced a quick clip - the first bar is the high hat as audio and the second bar is the same high hat audio file going through esx24, maybe you can hear whats going on? http://www.mediafire.com/?sfdkzusg0lah4w3
David Nahmani
That sample sounds digitally distorted. 1) Listen to your sample in the Finder. Make sure the sample itself is not distorted. 2) Watch your levels in Logic on the Stereo Output channel strip. Make sure the level does not go in the red. 3) Do you have any plug-ins in the signal path of that EXS24? Try uninstantiating them until you find the culprit. remix6
Hey David, 1). Sample sounds perfect in Finder playback. 2). I have a completely brand new instance of Logic open with absolutely nothing but exs24 loaded. 3). Channel and Output levels are not even peaking half way My exact steps to import the sample is as follows: 1). Choose EXS24 in stereo mode (I have also tried mono). 2). Choose 'Edit' 3). Choose 'Zone' then 'Load Multiple Samples' to which I then locate the sample, 'Add' the sample and select 'Done'. 4). I choose 'Contiguous zones', 'Zone width: 1 note', 'Start Note: C1'. remix6
Just a note, I tried a few different hats from totally different sample packs and they seem to be working fine. No idea what it could be in this specific file that is triggering it to distort - how strange! P.S another thing I noted that was strange is that when the audio file is loaded in the sample zone browser, it would not play it back. I think there must be some sort of file corruption that logic is very sensitive to as the culprit.

What kind of file is this: where does it come from, what sample rate, bit depth, format is a wave I see....?
remix6
It's a .wav, total bit rate: 2,822,400 from xfer records sample pack. Here's the exact file if you wanted to test it: http://www.mediafire.com/?r2due4lxd2iwl82
Jordi Torres
According to Quicktime's inspector, the file is a 32bit floating point one. Convert it to 24bit and try again. J.
