DanRad
This may be a bit off topic, but I've found the folks here to be smart and helpful. Does anyone know of a soft synth where you can "draw" envelopes. Omnisphere has a very flexible and scaleable envelope. But I would love to be able to just draw them with help from snaps and curves etc. Thoughts? DanRad
Jordi Torres
Camel Audio's Alchemy has a Multiple Segment Envelope Generator (MSEG): http://www.camelaudio.com/alchemymanual/mod/mseg/ J.
fader8
NI's Absynth, as well.

michael2
Curve by cable guys. there is a demo, and there is also a free version that came with computer music magazine couple months ago.
DanRad
Thanks for the suggestions. Like Omnisphere, Absynth has a multi stage an "bendable" kind of envelope, though it's rather arcane and difficult to control.. plus, Ab is SOOO deep.. I'd love to have Massive but with a workable envelope. (It's the one area that seems really poorly thought out and used) I use the performance lfo almost like an envelope, but it's not the same. I don't see anything other than an ADSE on Sculpture, am I missing something? I would love to see something with a pencil type of input to generate and envelope, synched or otherwise. Thanks DanRad
Rev. Juda Sleaze
Probably not what you're after, as it's only 8bit, but I felt it was worth a mention since it's free, and you can freely draw any wave shape you want: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/229.html

Check out its Control Envelopes: Getting to Know Sculpture’s Control Envelopes Among Sculpture’s control sources are two envelopes. In traditional synthesizer designs, envelopes are used to control amplitude and filter levels over time. By comparison, Sculpture’s envelopes are somewhat special as they can be used as: • Traditional four-segment envelopes. • MIDI controller modulations. PS: Alchemy rocks and has a better user interface than Absynth...IMO, of course. J.
fader8
DanRad, Have you played with the vector editor in ES2? Zebra2 has a nice multi-segment envelope generator. Also a parameter sequencer PS: Alchemy rocks and has a better user interface than Absynth...IMO, of course. Absynth takes a bit of getting used to, but once you're there it's OK. michael2
check out Curve, you can get some really interesting things from it. i'm very happy with it. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll29/moxie39/df0cf5afeguys_curve.png
GlennO
Omnisphere has a very flexible and scaleable envelope. But I would love to be able to just draw them with help from snaps and curves etc. I notice people are responding with suggestions for other synths which also have multi breakpoint envelopes like Omnisphere. I believe you'll have a hard time finding anything that can surpass the flexibility of Omnisphere's envelopes (try the chaos feature ). But I think you're asking for something different: envelopes that you can freely draw an arbitrary shape into with a pencil. It's an interesting idea and we explored that when designing Omnisphere's envelopes, but we found it's limiting to do so because you end up with undesirable imperfections and it's actually easier to work with breakpoints and a good variety of curves that can easily be dragged to create your own shapes. Still it's an interesting idea. Glenn O Spectrasonics
David Nahmani
I think you're asking for something different: envelopes that you can freely draw an arbitrary shape into with a pencil. Sculpture allows you to "draw" them by recording the movements of your mod wheel. Not exactly the pencil tool, but close enough (even better for many applications). GlennO
Sure, and I would agree with the "even better", but I believe he's looking for something he can't already do in Omnisphere. Not only can you record movements of the Omnisphere Orb, you can also drag midi onto an Omnisphere envelope to apply the rhythm of a sequence to it.
