Soretooth
This is probably a very basic task, but I'm unsure how to actually achieve this! Just to be clear, I have several tracks of recorded audio separated out as follows, drums, bass, guitar and vocals, all recorded live without using a click, foolish I know! Anyway, I have imported each track in to Logic as WAV and what I want to do now is to add some keyboards and sequenced elements to the 'live' track! As the tempo naturally varies through the live recording it isn't possible to set Logic's metronome to run in time with the recording. I have guesstimated the BPM using a BPM measure and although this starts off in time, by the end of the track it's drifted out of time, as you'd expect. I have done a little research of my own and stumbled accross 'Beat Mapping'! Is this the way to go? So if someone can anyone shine some light on this for me, or point me to a video or written tutorial to show me how it's done, I would be very appreciative. Rev. Juda Sleaze
Yes, beat mapping is the way to go. The manual covers it pretty well, it's fairly simple once you get used to it. Setting the rough BPM, as you have, should make it a relatively painless procedure.
Soretooth
Thanks for confirming that so quickly, I'll have a read trough the manual and see if I can master this! Might be back for more help if I get stuck though! Thanks again!
Rev. Juda Sleaze
You're welcome, a quick search of YouTube should bring up some beat mapping how-to's if you're stuck and need to see an example. Good luck!

Not foolish at all. It's not possible for any metronome to anticipate the feel, swing, accel., ritard., of a live performance. You're doing it the right way! The human element needs a resurgence. Rigid unerrirng tempos are a contrivance of the digital era. More or less.
