dasgua00
Hi, I managed to install Logic Studio 8 on my Macbook Pro having LIon OS using Pacifist. However, when I tried to run logic for the first time, it showed me the Registration box. I put in all the registration details, but since then, each time I try to run Logic Studio, it says registration error and automatically shuts down. Can anyone provide me a solution to this problem ? I have Logic Studio original software that I had purchased. Thanks, Andy.
triplets
No need to register. It's just a formality. I don't think Logic 8 is supposed to run on Lion. Trash the preferences?
n6smith
Logic 8 is not really supported on Lion even if you manage to install it.... You have to use Logic 9.1.5 for the best compatibility. However, there is a work around as described in this thread... http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=380613&sid=50d0fd86d89484af18bee7f97a9fe969
dasgua00
AM not being able to open Logic to trash preferences.... when I double click - either through terminal window, or directly, am getting a message saying "registraion error'. I understand that for users who already had Logic Pro 8 on their macs before upgrading to Lion do manage to use the software by opening it through the terminal window. Thanks both for your replies. Nigel will follow the thread you posted and will check out if that works... Andy.
n6smith
Ok.. if I understand you correctly, It's not Logic's prefs you need to trash because you haven't managed to start Logic yet... So.. read and then try this method.. http://derek-sanders.net/?p=1267 I gather this has worked for several people in the same situation as yourself... but I have not tried it myself as I have no need to do so... because i'm running L9 I would recommend, making a clone image of your HD using Carbon Copy Cloner or something similar, before experimenting... just in case.. but it's your call. n6smith
Also.. (and you might want to try this first... ) just in case these two files have already been created somehow... Try moving the *Logic Studio System ID* and the ProAppsSystemID files to the desktop before starting Logic. They can be found in Library/Application Support/ProApps folder. Note: This is the library in your root system drive not the library inside your user folder.. Reboot, start Logic, enter serial, quit Logic, reboot, see if it works now. If it works, trash the two files from the desktop.
