Staleyolk
Hi my problem here is that my go to synth is omnisphere and i only have the option of opening it in stereo or multi-output.In the later stages of mixing I keep a lot of my stuff in stereo but certain things like my basses and kicks I want in mono to benefit the mix. Or at least try it in mono to see if it is beneficial. I've tried the direction mixer in logic and sometimes it works very good. But Sometimes it doesn't seem like it narrows it enough. I want my basses in most cases to be pure mono. I was thinking that maybe I should just bus my midi omnisphere track into a mono audio track to get these results? ski
The direction mixer should work fine. But if you want to be absolutely sure, use a gain plug instead and click the mono button.
David Nahmani
But Sometimes it doesn't seem like it narrows it enough. If you set your spread to zero, then you have a perfectly mono result, you can't get any narrower than left signal = right signal. Using a gain plug-in with the "mono" checkbox selected will give you exactly the same result: left signal = right signal.
Staleyolk
thanks again for the quick response guys. It's also nice to know that there is more than one option. Spread 0 gotcha

lagerfeldt
For a little more control than offered by the Direction Mixer, then you can download the free StereoTool from Flux: http://www.fluxhome.com/products/freewares/stereotool
