sunny4
Hi everybody Apologies for re-posting this, I'd mistakenly put it in the wrong forum I'm getting 'drop-outs' in the middle of one particular song (3 drop-outs over a 10 bar section). This is the first time it has happened in a song and results in complete silence of all tracks (although they can still be seen playing via their meters) The drop-outs last for 2 or 3 bars each time before sounding again for another 2 or 3 bars then the sound is fine right to the end of the song. I've checked on other posts which have helped me to try one or two things but I can't find anything entirely relevant. The Process Buffer range is set to Medium and the Rewire behaviour is set to Playback mode. The buffer size is set at 256 and when I've changed it to 128 or 512 it makes no difference to the drop-outs. The CPU meter does not seem to be peaking at the dropout times. Don't know if any of this information is relevant but I hope it helps. I'm also using chord analysis in Global Tracks. I've dragged the start time of the whole song from bar 1 to bar 10 and the drop- outs still happen at the same point in the song ie. approx bars 95, 99 and 102. When I record a new software instrument track within the problem section (bars 95 to 105) the MIDI keyboard sound (along with all the pre-recorded tracks) also cuts out during recording and then again at playback. I've also tried recording a new track starting on another bar which will sound fine when moved to any other bar position - except within the problem section. Please can anybody help?…as I'm not very technically-minded please would you explain in simple terms? Thanks I hope I've given enough relevant information - please let me know if you need more. Thank you in advance Sunny4
David Nahmani
Any 3rd party plug-ins in that song? If yes, then do this: 1) Make a copy of your project file (File > Save as...) 2) Remove all 3rd party plug-ins from the copy (one by one, click-hold them and choose "No Plug-in"). Does the problem still occur on the copy?
sunny4
Hi David Thank you for your reply and sorry for my delayed one - I'm currently sorting out a problem with my interface so as soon as I can I will try what you suggest and let you know the result. Thanks again sunny4

sunny4
Hi David I checked out what you suggested with the 3rd party plug-ins and realised that I hadn't used any on this particular song, so I looked further and found the problem and managed to resolve it! An instrument (which even though it only played in the Intro of the song) was 'somehow' (ahem! javascript:emoticon('') ) on 'Touch' and was soloing at those drop-out bars. It was only showing as Solo in the Mixer and not in Arrange so unfortunately I didn't spot it at first. (and especially because there was no obvious solo'ed instrument sounding). To correct it, I copied the 'Intro' track (without automation), re-did the automation afresh on the new track, then deleted the original problem track. The song works beautifully now, with no drop-outs.javascript:emoticon(':D') Hopefully this might help somebody else with a similar problem. Thanks again for your help, it gave me the encouragement to keep searching for the answer. sunny4
