Rhodes54
How can I get two (or more) expression pedal inputs into my MIDI controller keyboard? I'm using an M-Audio Prokeys 88sx, but my question isn't model-specific. I'm using Mainstage 2.1.3. I've seen a USB expression pedal, but it was way over priced for what it does. Ideally, I think I want some kind of junction box with 3 or 4 TRS inputs and a USB output that would allow me to use ANY expression pedal. I'd like to be able to use a full (half?) damper pedal with Pianoteq while still having an expression pedal for other tasks. But the option of using even more control pedals would be great in any case. Thanks, Stewart
Calvi19
Hi i think, that does not matter how many cc´s do you send through you pedals (plural) i they are properly assigned, that means that there have a CC for each one, yo know that 64 it´s the midi standard for Sustain, you can start from it. In Manstage 2.1 you still have to create a "pedal" in the input to do this, but in the release notes this it´s no more needed in 2.2., see the post here. Please feel free to ask if it´s not clear. Rhodes54
I think the problem is that I don't have a physical input for another 1/4" CC pedal. On the 88sx, I've got Sustain, Sost and Expression and those are all taken up. Besides, unless I'm wrong, I think the Sustain and Sost are on/off only (i.e. Tip Ring,)
CCTMusic
Hi You should investigate MIDI foot pedal devices such as The Behringer FCB, Roland FC series and others. Many of these units have 1 or two 'expression pedals' plus TRS sockets for others externally. Amongst other gear, I use an old Roland FC200 (1 built in pedal, + 2 external pedals + two switches). Rhodes54
I had the Behringer FCB1010 for a month or so. Too inconvenient to program, ( not impossible, just have other things I need to be doing) plus, I didn't really need ten buttons. And was a little put off by the optic sensor expression pedals. What I really want is this :http://www.thomann.de/gb/eowave_usb_footcontrol.htm but it's 111 euro plus shipping which works out to more than I can afford. It's basically a four TRS in to USB out box. Perfect, but way overpriced. I'm thinking I could just get the cheapest 25 note controller I could find that had an expression pedal input. Not pretty, but at least it would work. Eric Cardenas
I had the Behringer FCB1010 for a month or so. Too inconvenient to program... I use a program called iFCB. It turns the programming into a (yummy) piece of cake.
Rhodes54
I forget what program I used. I remember I tried it with two different EPROM chips. I got it working, but found I didn't like the throw of the expression pedals AND it took up too much real estate under my feet. Plus, I didn't want the expression pedals so close to each other. and didn't really need ten switch pedals. Complain much? ;} I saw one hack of soldering a female TRS to one of the knobs of a KORG nanoKontrol so I may try that. All I really want is to be able to have an expression pedal AND a full damper pedal. Damn.
ensho
If you need to put two or more pedals into one USB input you need to merge physical controller inputs into one. Those devices cost money. http://midisolutions.com/products.htm http://www.eowave.com I find today's market to have a shortage of keyboarder-oriented options for pedals / pedal inputs. Only the big masterkeyboards offer multiple input options. The Eowave stuff is quite expensive, but looks to me as the most universally appliable solution. If you can hack a nanoKontrol to do the job, that will most likely be the cheapest option. Please let us know if you manage to do that. Cheers, ensho
