Rev. Juda Sleaze
The second installment of my contemporary jazz numbers is here: http://soundcloud.com/rev-judas-sleaze/mentar It's an old tune that I've had in sketch form for a few years. It came from a "mentoring" assignment when I was at college - performers were partnered with composers. It was originally written for double bass, vocal and guitar, with sampled beats made from a recording of the two performers hitting their instruments and singing in a practice room. The singer/guitarist did a runner before we could perform it, but she's now singing in it anyway thanks to the EXS and the fact I still have the old recording of them in the practice room! I had thought that arranging it for more instruments would make it more cohesive, but it's had the opposite effect. Still, I wasn't really into continuity then, so there you are... I've gone for a live studio feel again, little mistakes deliberately left in, all solos done on 1st take, not over-producing the mix etc. As ever, all comments welcome.
