gdgross
So i have four tracks recorded at a friends studio - wav files, they play fine in quicktime and sound right. However, when I import them into logic, there is no sound from them and the region preview looks all wrong - like the attached image... Any ideas? I don't think it's a sample rate thing, otherwise they'd just be fast/wrong pitch/whatever. I literally hear nothing at all when I solo the track. Thanks! n6smith
***Scratch this.. I was looking at the wrong thing.....Thanks David!*** It looks like somehow you have dragged them into a Midi track and not an Audio track. Create an Audio Track and then drag the Wave file onto that track and see what happens..
David Nahmani
Huh... Nigel, I see them on an audio track, so that's probably fine. gdgross, what format are those audio files: sample rate? bit rate?
Eriksimon
I've never ever seen waveforms like this... what does it sound like? Doesn't look like silence to me... more like phase-flipping white noise... weird... can you play the audio file using Quicklook or iTunes? O wait, you say it plays in Quicktime... how does the waveform look when you zoom out horizontally (showing, say, 10 or 20 seconds)? Also, what kind of file do you get if you use the Convert/Copy Audio File(s) command in the Audio Bin and convert the file to AIFF, 24 bit, 44.1 kHz? (assuming that 44.1 kHz is you projects' sampling frequency)
gdgross
Figured it out guys.... These were bounced as 32-bit wav files. I suppose that Logic just doesn't know what to do with them... I converted to 24bit and all was well. Weird looking, though, huh?
David Nahmani
Weird looking for sure. I had a suspicion they may be 32 bit files... which Logic does not support. Glad to hear you resolved it.
