logic8mine
Working from my phone again and still can't figure out how to search via mobile. Anyway, 7/8ths into a project key commands stopped working in multiple projects- even after trashing preferences and rooting several times. Of course, I reselected the U.S. Keyword preset each time after trashing presets...
David Nahmani
When trashing preferences, do you quit Logic first, then trash your prefs?

ruari
If you have custom key commands & use Time Machine, it is possible that you can recover your lost/deleted key commands… http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=78944
logic8mine
ruari, there were not any custom commands per se (one or two at the most). None of them are working. Not even 'Command+S' or 'Command +W'.
logic8mine
Thanks guys, after restarting Logic and rebooting the mbp for what must be the 6th or 7th time- the key commands are working again...

ski
I've had this problem on occasion with Logic dating back to Logic 8, where suddenly, the most basic commands like CMD-S and CMD-W stop working. It still happens with Logic 9.1.5. The cure isn't to trash your prefs, however. It just requires quitting and then re-launching Logic. If CMD-W is non-functional, the cure is to close all windows with the mouse, and when Logic asks if you want to close your project, say no. Now open a new arrange window (CMD-1) and see if you've regained the use of your key commands. If not, once again, close all windows with the mouse to the point where Logic asks you if you want to close your project. Do so (saving, of course) and then see if CMD-Q becomes active again. If not, force quit Logic and re-launch. Back in Logic 8, when this problem would occur, the fix came in the form of switching screensets (those k/commands don't seem to be affected by this problem). That would give me back the functionality of my k/commands, sometimes only temporarily, sometimes for the long haul. In fact, this is my first course of action when I run into this problem. I don't recall how well this approach works or not in Logic 9 (because the problem seldom occurs), but it might be worth a try as a first attempt at a remedy. Oh, and please, please, please, don't go trashing your prefs as a first resort when this problem occurs. AFAICT, the problem has nothing to do with bad prefs, and so when you trash them it makes me worry...

ski
Yeah, you can never really tell, can you? But still, yours is a fair call cuz, see, it's all part of this genetic problem I suffer from called Zelig syndrome. When I'm normal (which is questionable on the best of days) I look like my regular caucasian-ish self. But when I worry, I start to look either like Obama or Henry Kissinger. When my wife is on tour for too long I start to get this strange dark band around my neck that, by all accounts, looks like a clerical collar. And when I've posted something on the forum that's not stupid or off-topic or flat out wrong, my speaking voice takes on this outrageous French accent and I start to look almost exactly like David Nahmani. Except not as tall. And not as handsome, I guess. And with that you can safely guess that at this very moment I'm looking like my regular, caucasian-ish self. In the past, (this problem has continued through Logic 9 with me), I would save the project, restart Logic and this would go away. But, after a couple of restarts of Logic and reboots of the MBP, it wasn't alleviating the issue. Good to know it's not a prefs issue however... David Nahmani
logic8mine, is this issue isolated to Logic when it occurs? I have had the same issue (Command-W, Command-S unresponsive) in other apps: browsers, Photoshop.... - I wonder if this could be related to your problem. However I never found a solution other than to close and reopen the app.

But, I since removed it from this computer. However, I don't remember it occurring there nearly as often as in Logic. I've thought the issue may be related to multi-tasking which I am quite addicted to- so, I've since moved Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Final Cut Express, etc. to another bootable hard drive to discourage that practice. And, since they are out of sight- I don't use them quite as often...
