Missing GarageBand instruments [SOLVED]

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro and Logic Studio 9. The first thing I did when it arrived was to install Logic Studio. I've been learning heaps and having great fun with it, but I have noticed that there were a few instruments that weren't found. For example, several of the voice instruments would give me a MISSING: error message when I selected them through the channel strip on the left of the arrange page. Logic would tell me that a file was missing - e.g.: "BB ClMale Aa n38.aif". However, most instruments have been working, so I've been putting up with it. Anyway today I discovered a workaround:

Play that instrument in Garage Band first and then it works in Logic.

I guess Garage Band is copying the instrument somewhere that Logic can see it. The files in the position that Logic doesn't see them are in directories such as:

/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files/Classical Choir/Classical Choir Male/BB ClMale Aa n38.aif

I hope this helps someone out there. If there is a better solution, please let us know.

Excuse me replying to myself, but I found a related problem and solution.

I was missing "Deep Electric Piano 05" which is a GarageBand Apple Loop.

I found that it hadn't been downloaded and installed into GarageBand yet (along with many other instruments and loops).

Once I did this, it appeared in Logic as well, without any additional work.

Hope that helps :)

I also found an option under the "Logic Pro" main menu to "Download Additional Content..." which had more GarageBand content for me to download. I'm not sure if doing this first would have made either of the tips above redundant. YMMV
