Devon8822
I am just messing around with compression in order to get a handle on it, and I just ran into something that just doesn't make sense to me. I have a level meter right before the compression plug in. It is set for peak and so is the gain reduction meter in the platinum compressor. The level meter is peaking at -7db, and when i put the the threshold on the compressor down to -6db, I am getting some gain reduction... how can It be letting anything into the compressor when the it has to be louder than -6db to get into it, and the track is only going up to -7db peak? Devon8822
ohhhh i think its because I have it set for a soft knee!
David Nahmani
You're thinking right. (easiest way to check would be to make sure that with a hard knee, the gain reduction is zero).
