Newbie requiring some pointers with fcb1010

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

I'm very much a newbie to MIDI but I would say that I am more than average in competence in use of computers.

I am running MainStage 2.2 on a MacBook Pro.

I have an Edirol FA 66 MIDI Interface connected to the MacBook by firewire.

I have connected the MIDI out from a Behringer FCB1010 to the MIDI input on the FA 66.

I have successfully managed to connect and assign some pedals on the FCB to change buttons in MainStage using the advice here http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=48157&p=246067&hilit=assign+learn+assign+fcb1010#p246067, but I have two questions.

1. In mainstage, why does the top button in the Screen Control Inspector read "Assign" and not "Learn". It seems to do the same thing, but I am not convinced.

2. I would like to configure pedals to do the following:

1 and 2 to switch up and down the patches

3, 4, 5 to turn controls within the individual patches on and off - eg reverb, distortion etc.

6, 7, 8 to activate record, play/stop, clear in a loopback

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

If any mods feel I ought to put the two questions in two separate posts, I'd happily do that.

1. In "layout" mode, select the patch up screen control.

2. Press the "assign" button so it turns red.

3. Step on pedal "1" on the FCB1010 3 times.

4. Press the "assign" button so it turns grey.

5. In "edit" mode, select the patch up screen control.

6. In the Screen control inspector", go to : actions-> prev patch.

7. Go to "perform" mode and test it. If it works, follow this same concept for all the pedals on the FCB1010.

Hope that helps. Cheers!
