noahwallach
I am running logic 9.1.7 on osx 10.6.8 many logic plugins failing validation including those that worked before. Also I find those same plugins are working fine in ableton live. I just installed updates for many native instruments plugins and installed spectrasonics omnisphere. now all my native instrument, waves, and spectrosonics plugins crash during the validation phase. Also uhe plugins like zebraCM crash. I go into the Audio Units manager and select one of the native instrument plugins that works fine in ableton live and it crashes upon validation. what is the best way to troubleshoot this problem? Cheers.

triplets
Can you revert back to 9.1.6? If not, try this link. Trash the Logic Pro app (but don't empty the trash), and install 9.1.6. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1519
noahwallach
hey there, so how does one downgrade. I went to the apple kb link and dowloaded the 9.1.6 update but since moving 9.1.7 to the trash the install process never starts. The error is "An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. The update require Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher." what are my options here? RealSkyDiver
How do you downgrade? Have a similar problem since the update which is extremely annoying.
triplets
Sorry I wasn't clear before. If you don't have a previous Logic version from a Time Machine backup, for downgrading you need to reinstall Logic and then apply the desired update. But only reinstall the app, nothing else. THANK GOD FOR TIMEMACHINE! I usually forget that I even have it, that just solved a major dilemma I had for month, thanks I still don't get it how Logic updates can screw plugins up so good. triplets
It can be done quickly. Backup your User/Library folder just in case if you created some custom stuff just in case.

noahwallach
yeah this is crazy - I am still running 9.1.7 and am finally able to enabled the plugins that are claiming to crash during validation and the plugins work but they are stored in "incompatible" tab in the plugin pulldown menu. ridiculous. I need to find my original logic install media now. thanks for your assistance.

noahwallach
I am getting a new error message when I attempt to validate "2012-06-26 12:21:26.381 Logic Pro[14696:203] *** NSTask: Task create for path '/usr/bin/arch' failed: 22, "Invalid argument". Terminating temporary process. validation result: crashed validation" ableton live is not having this issue and version 8 of ableton does use audio unit plugins, in some cases, and not vst version as noted in the live application plugin pull down list. what can I do to correct the error message? triplets
Maybe deleting the audio units cache?
